7th CAMRA Spa Valley Railway Real Ale and Cider Festival 2017

Being the lucky devil that I am, I was able to listen in on the penultimate (love that word) meeting of the West Kent CAMRA cadre responsible for organising the upcoming Beer & Cider Festival at the Spa Valley Railway on 20th-22nd October 2017.

I’ve been a very happy participant in this festival for a few years now, and thought it was time to start getting a bit nosey on behalf of the public and to help promote this brilliant beer bonanza (Thesaurus is well and truly out) in Tunbridge Wells. I’m not going to harp on too much about the particulars of the festival as I’ve done that already in a previous post, but even being a fly on the wall of this meeting gave me plenty to be excited about for the festival this year.

To clarify, as your official ‘insider’ this year there are things I am sworn to secrecy about, but there are some exciting titbits I can reveal at this stage:

There will be a special Green Hop competition – and you will be able to taste the winner! But only if you get there early enough. The beers at this festival are there until they’re gone… then ya know… they’re gone. I can’t change that. It’s how things work.

If you’re a fan of Bright Beers (beers where the yeast has either settled or been filtered out), then you want to get yourself a Rover Ticket and get on the trains – that’s where you will find them.

Heard of Black Cat Brewery? Do yourself a favour and have a look – they are bringing a very special LIMITED EDITION Tzar Imperial Stout. We’re talking limited batches, conditioned in the brewery for months! This will be a serious treat and I’m guessing supplies will be ridiculously limited – so make this part of your mission.

I can also clarify some bits of the musical line up!

Friday (20th) night they’ve got Local Hero’s from Hastings with 80s/90s music.

Saturday (21st) you can expect the musical stylings of Between Giants.

Sunday (22nd) afternoon serenading courtesy of Harveys and The Wealden Ramblers.

There is obviously loads more, but I don’t want to spoil you people.

Keep checking back for more details.
