Swimming is a refreshing way to relax on holiday and wash away the every day tension.

Have a day of indulgence and visit one of the pools to rejuvenate weary mind and body whilst staying in Tunbridge Wells. A number of hotels in Tunbridge Wells have their own heated swimming pools.

Not only could you swim, but you could float, sauna, steam and jacuzzi your way to a sparkling new you.  Why not book yourself a luxurious spa treatment too and emerge renewed. Check our Accommodation pages for which ones have such facilities.

Swimming to keep fit and have fun whilst staying in Tunbridge Wells is easy.  There are two sports centres with three pools in the Tunbridge Wells Sports Centre at St Johns and one pool in the Weald Centre at Cranbrook.

You can enjoy serious keep fit lane swimming or splashing about with the family.  Both pools have general swim sessions and dedicated lane swimming. This is a great rainy day option to bear in mind too.

The Sports Centres have their own timetables on their websites with their different activities.  You do not need to be a member to use these pools.

Outdoor and Wild Swimming near Tunbridge Wells

Tonbridge is only a 30 minute drive or 10 minute train ride away and here there is an outdoor leisure pool which is well used during the hot weather. Laze about on the grass around the pool and jump in to cool off.

Haysden Lakes is only 6 miles down the road near Tonbridge, a TriSwim membership is required but can be pre-booked and carried out in 15 minutes. Leybourne Lakes and Holborough Lakes, both of which are only 17 miles from the centre of Royal Tunbridge Wells, are 2 more sites for such fun.

Ride your bike from your lodgings then dive in and make the most of the open country air and water.

A swimming assessment session is required first at a cost of around £15 then it is £5 a swim. Check websites for details.

Spectators can visit Bewl Water at the right time and watch triathlon / open water swimming events. It is not possible to undertake open water swimming by members of the public.

Other watersports can be undertaken such as canoeing, scuba diving and sailing too.  Get a group together and have a whale of a time splashing about in the water!
