Rusthall Bonfire Night

Rusthall Bonfire Night

Fireworks & Bonfire Night

Remember, Remember the Fifth of November Gunpowder, Treason and plot.
I see no reason why Gunpowder Treason Should ever be forgot.

Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes 'twas his intent
To blow up the King and the Parliament.
Three score barrels of powder below
Poor old England to overthrow.

By God's providence he was catch'd
With a dark lantern and burning match,
Holloa boys, holloa boys, Ring bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!

WHAT SHALL WE DO WITH HIM?!

The best fireworks and Guy Fawkes' bonfires in Tunbridge Wells

Traditional processions, fireworks and bonfires are top of the bill in Tunbridge Wells’ parks and villages throughout November.

The date of the official Guy Fawkes Night celebrations is 5 November but we like to make the fun last!

Rusthall Village likes to get in there first with its torch-lit procession, bonfire and fireworks display at the end of October.

Rusthall is on the border of the town easily accessible by bus 281 throughout the evening via an 18 minute journey from the war memorial in Royal Tunbridge Wells.

The enthusiastic community joins in to make this a successful night, usually starting with a sale of torches from 7pm followed by a parade around the village.

Warm up with hot chocolate and toffee apples from nearby local stores and cafés. The odd toffee apple might even have been grown in Kent.

There is music and majorettes! Come on the last weekend of October and see what a Kent village gets up to at night!

The Dunorlan Park Firework Display has a wow factor of its own and has had for the last 62 years! This is held in one of our award winning parks just 20 minutes’ walk from the town centre of Royal Tunbridge Wells.

The lake creates a mesmerising effect reflecting the striking colours exploding across the night sky. There will be refreshments for sale and a few fairground rides too.

Organised by the Round Table for the first Saturday in November, this is a big bang for Royal Tunbridge Wells, so you must get your ticket early. Proceeds go to charity too.

We advise you to park in a town centre car park as there is no parking at the site for this event.

Torch-lit processions and traditional celebrations

Hawkhurst in the south-east of the borough holds a very traditional torch-lit procession through the village for Guy Fawkes’ celebrations every year at the end of November.

This is a quirky traditional event capturing the mystery of smuggling history and not to be missed in the wilds of the Weald of Kent countryside.

The Hawkhurst Bonfire Gang Society does the rounds of the Bonfire processions in this region.  They come dressed as smugglers and vagabonds to provide a thrilling, not to mention smoky, atmosphere.

Afterwards, enjoy the additional warmth of the local hearty food in the nearby cosy country pubs on 23 November.

Why not make it a long, cosy weekend in the country?

There are lots of homely pubs and Bed and Breakfasts to stay and dine in throughout the Wealden countryside, with their own lovely gardens.

Make it a bright holiday spot during the onset of winter in Tunbridge Wells by booking your accommodation right now.

Check out what else there is to do on the Autumn Breaks page of seasonal ideas.

Eye-popping fiery colours are a natural wonder to see at this time of year, especially in the stately homes, castles and gardens, most excitingly at Hole Park and Scotney Castle.
