What's On in Tunbridge Wells

Whenever you come to Tunbridge Wells, at any time of the year, there is always something happening for you to enjoy….

Gardens, music, theatre, dance, comedy, and art...the area has more than its fair share of fun, colourful and entertaining events taking place throughout the year in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Cranbrook and the Wealden Villages.

We have 2 major theatres in the area providing mainstream and off-piste entertainment to make you laugh, gasp and cry.

The Forum is a nationally acclaimed music venue with excellent up and coming talent gigging on The Common every week.

There are several festivals in Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn celebrating local food, music, literature and horticulture in our award winning parks, gardens and villages not to mention the world-famous Pantiles.

Exhibitions are common place too; the Galleries page will point you in the right direction.

Gardeners’ Paradise

See a number of famous gardening highlights in the Tunbridge Wells calendar showcasing the plentiful flora and landscapes across the borough.

We have bluebells, daffodils, tulips, and roses in the most gorgeous of gardens, you must take some time to visit at least one of these celebrated attractions.

With eight bank holidays a year, a stunning backdrop of historical architecture and rural rolling hills, there is much scope for amusing entertainment as well as admiration.

Live Music

When it comes to music events, you will be amazed at what’s on in Tunbridge Wells!

There so many exciting live music concerts and festivals indoors and out in enviable countryside and architecturally atmospheric surroundings.

There are local orchestral, jazz, soul, blues, choral, rock and hip-hop groups who perform regularly. We also are lucky to have visits from international musicians, orchestras and bands too.

We’ve welcomed Elton John, Prince, Debbie Harry, Jessie J, Paloma Faith and Rag ‘N’ Bone Man to name a few!

Keeping music live is an important factor to many Tunbridge Wellians.  The number of venues has expanded so that more small pubs and restaurants now feature home-grown musical talent.

Aside from the Forum (an independent music champion), other regular music venues in town are The Cross Keys pub, The Grey Lady for jazz, The Bedford pub, The Sussex Arms, Beau Nash Tavern, The Bull TW, both theatres and many of the churches.

For more on the eclectic music scene see the Festivals page.

The Opera House in Royal Tunbridge Wells stages an opera once in a while although it is usually a pub.  Since it is a former opera house the dramatically painted balconies inside are a sight to behold.

Rural pubs that regularly host live music include The Bull at Benenden, Bell & Jorrocks pub in Frittenden, The George and The White Horse both in Cranbrook, King William IV pub in Pembury and The Goudhurst Inn, Goudhurst to name a few.

Join The Fun!

The Tunbridge Wells attractions join in on the fun and have year-long programmes of events to tempt you out to play.

The most tempting and popular of these are the Bluebells at Hole Park, The Tulip Festival and Roses at Pashley Manor Gardens, the Peonies at Penshurst Place and Gardens, and Hever Castle in Bloom.

The major literary event in Chiddingstone Castle is becoming larger and more well-known as each year goes by.

The annual pram race at Speldhurst village is like Wacky Races and is definitely one of the quirkiest events around!

During the school holidays, you could be vilified by Vikings, regaled by the Regency in an historical re-enactment or trailed through the woods!

Children are well catered for in the amusement stakes in Tunbridge Wells.
